China is Limiting High-ranking Officials to Offices the Size Of a Shipping Container

"You work for the Communist Party? Do you know the size limit for your desk at work?"

Thus begins an ad (link in Chinese) Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) -The body responsible for ensuring that party members do what they are told of their new rules on office space allocated to government bureaucrats.

The document, entitled "Does your office exceeds the guidelines of space?" Impose strict limits on party members to office area, according to their rank. Ministers and provincial governors, for example, are limited to 54 square meters. private bathrooms senior officials, moreover, should not exceed six square meters.

Here’s the full breakdown of office size limits by party rank:

The English version of the announcement said, "The department heads in ministries and provincial governments enjoy a no more than 30 square meters office and their deputies 24 square meters."

There is little reason to think they will take advantage of these limits after years of using party funds to bridge their offices. The most infamous workplace adorned in recent years was a factory belonging to state Harbin Pharmaceuticals. Photos scarcely credible laced its corridors, rooms royal European conferences, and Olympic-size swimming pools leak on the web in 2011.

Excavations flashy as Harbin Pharmaceutical offices and mini Kremlin in a Beijing neighborhood have drawn the ire of both the public and a Communist Party that is trying to improve its kleptocratic image. The Global Times state newspaper that frequently publishes editorials that summarize the thought of the party, cited the "Beijing Kremlin" to justify a "control of corruption."

Last breeds of CCDI cites as basic document (link in Chinese) published last year by the National Development and Reform, which provides the economic policy of China and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development -rural the country. This document is collected, summarized and distributed by CCDI suggests that the government can actually try to observe any such restrictions.

The internal disciplinary committee has become the main weapon in the battle against President Xi Jinping corruption. For example, he managed to expel from the party Zhou Yongkang-time member of the Committee for extremely-powerful Politburo Standing "serious disciplinary offenses."
Of course, the rules of the office space will require someone who provides unbiased measures.
